Magazine

Here is my magazine cover & advertisement. I love to travel, especially to the caribbean, so I included a picture I took in The Bahamas for my cover. The advertisement is a photo I took while on an airplane; and it's for the (made-up) airline Carib-Air.

Photo Restoration

I chose to repair a photo of my dad and his high school band; this photo was taken in the 60's. Even though the photo wasn't the best choice for this project, since some of the faces and other parts of the image are on the blurry side, I wanted to use a personal photo from my family and this was the best I could get (and I love the picture regardless!) I torn it/crumpled it up and then re-scanned it after my dad had scanned and sent it to me so that I could give it more damages to repair. The top photo is the restored image, with the original image on the bottom. As my skills become better with photoshop, I hope to learn to repair it even more so that I can give the finished project to my dad to keep!

Propaganda Poster

I decided to base my propaganda poster on vegetarianism. I have been a vegetarian since I was 10 or 11 years old and a vegan for almost a year, so it's very important to me. There are so many meat alternatives that make it easy for a person to choose to become vegetarian. It's good for a person's health, the environment, and the animals!

Logo Assignment

My first logo is for "Eye-Spy Investigations" which is a private investigation company. The second logo is for "Wave Rider Boards" which is a company that sells surfboards. The third logo is for "Customeyes" which is a company that creates customized colored contacts.

Calligram

I chose to do my Calligram assignment using the image of an airplane. I am from New Jersey, so I have become quite accustomed to flying on airplanes since I have to fly to and from Tampa several times a year. I also love to travel, but so far the only places out of the country I have been are places in the Caribbean, such as the Bahamas, Dominican Republic,  Jamaica, Bermuda, St. Maarten, and a few more. I have always dreamed of traveling to Europe! I am part Italian and Greek, so it would be amazing to visit those countries and see where my family comes from. A lot of people are afraid to fly, but I have grown to love flying and traveling on airplanes.

Hi, I'm Sammi and I am a senior at the University of Tampa. I'm originally from Glen Rock, NJ, so it's great to have lived down here in Florida the past few years. I am a psychology major, and even though digital arts is not a required course for me, I am excited to learn more about it this semester. I have always been great with computers, so I would love to further my skills in this class. I was a little nervous going into this class, however, because I have not taken many art classes before and I am not that experienced with art.
I hope that by the end of this class, I will be able to consider myself an artist! I am excited to learn how to use the various computer programs and different ways to make art on the computer. I have used Photoshop before, but I only used the simple functions on it. I take a lot of pictures with my digital camera, so it would be great to learn the different techniques on how to alter these photos. My career goal is to get into the counseling profession, most likely with high school students. Although digital arts does not exactly pertain to that career, I think it's always good to have as much computer and art experience as possible. I am looking forward to this semester and all of the different projects we will be creating in class.
